Check Similar Matches

The Similar Matches page displays all pairs of applications having a similar match where at least one of the applications is within the jurisdiction you are currently working under.

  1. To link matching applications, click the Link option button for the matching pair. The application status of each application you have linked is changed to Suspended, with a status reason of “match found, requires manual processing”.
  2. To discard the match, click the Do Not Link option button for the matching pair.
  3. Click Save. If you do not click Save, your intended actions will not be recorded.
Next time the Similar Matches page is displayed, the pairs you have linked or discarded do not appear.

Note: Applications that are part of a similar match do not have their processing interrupted automatically. It is the responsibility of the jurisdiction’s Revenue Office to investigate such matches in a timely manner.

Note: A similar match on the family name includes matches with similar sounding names, as determined by a “sounds like” or “like” algorithm. The latter check ensures that, for example, “Deb” and “Debra” will match.

If a similar match is found, the two applications appear on a Similar Matches online report until they are either manually linked (which equates to an exact match) or manually unmatched. While on the Similar Matches online report the progress of the applications is not suspended.
